  • Surgery

Elective surgical procedures are performed at Butte Veterinary Service on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday by appointment. We ask that all surgical patients check in between 7:30am and 8:30am the morning of their appointment. It is important that no food be given to the pet after 10pm the night before surgery, and the water is taken away the morning of the surgery.

We also recommend pre-operative lab work to test kidney and liver functions (the main organs that metabolize anesthesia), complete blood counts, and blood glucose levels. Our patients are closely monitored throughout surgery using EKG/pulse oximeters. Fluids and pain medications are administered through an IV catheter. Pain management will be used for all procedures that cause some degree of pain or discomfort.
